About the Item
A striking and most decorative pair of Italian 19th century Ormolu, Vert de Patricia, and Rosso Antico marble Roman Emperor plaques. Each stunning circular plaque is set on an impressive circular outer Vert de Patricia marble mottled frame with an interior Rosso Antico marble center. Each plaque has a richly chased Ormolu medallion depicting Emperor Titus to the left, and his father Vespasian to the right. These emperors are both celebrated in antiquity for their military victories, and the construction of the Colosseum. Wonderful attention to detail and with all original gilding throughout.
