HAR 1950s BezelSet&PaveCrystal Enameled CastSilver Flowers&Hearts Bracelet
About the Item
With the mid-century hallmarks of handcrafted costume jewelry by New-York-City-based Hargo Creations but without the post-copyright signature (HAR), this early clamper cuff bracelet featuring stylized concave monochrome textural flowers by the design duo was cast with multiple metals to resemble aged Victorian silver (see closeup of handcrafted underside of bracelet). Some flowers feature pave crystal or are accented with black enamel around a central black faceted crystal that is bezel set like a pistil. Matching another one of our unsigned HAR listings, its hinged oval shape clamps at the side, while its filigree lower half features 15 openwork hearts that graduate in size as the cuff elegantly narrows towards the bottom.
American Edith Levitt married German-born Joseph Heibronner in 1952 several years after he became a U.S. citizen. The couple founded Hargo in 1955, while they most likely produced unsigned work such as the heart-clamper bracelet for at least a couple years prior to and after U.S. copyright law began to protect designs including jewelry. They began signing HAR in the late 1950s. Around the year that Heibronner died in 1968, Levitt retired it.
Multiple elements are characteristic of Hargo pieces during those two decades of shared creativity, including the use of aged, textured and openwork cast metal, intricate crystal and enamel decoration, and flower and heart motifs.

- Couture ChristianLacroixParis CL Embroidery DoubleBowHandle PinkSilk Evening BagBy Christian Lacroix ParisLocated in Chicago, ILThis couture 1980s fuchsia-pink evening bag by Christian Lacroix in ribbed silk moire features a double-bow stitched handle and his script-monogram "CL" embroidered on the exterior of the snap-fastening flap. The interior is printed in gold with "Christian Lacroix Paris". Signs of wear that are not visible until inspection of the wavy reflections and shadows of the textural shiny fabric include: a lighter area below the closed flap that could be part of the moire-watermark pattern; interior loose threads at top corners; and thread-bare spots underneath at two of the four corners. The handle, back side and interior of the bag are in excellent condition. As we found it difficult to capture the bag's bluish-magenta color, our photos include some taken with studio lights and others in sunlight. We have listed this evening bag among bracelets, boxes and cases because we assume that the buyer will be a collector of Christian Lacroix jewelry...Category
