Andrew Grima (1921-2007) was born in Rome and settled in England at the age of five. He trained as an engineer and entered the jewellery business after World War II, joining his father-in-law who owned a jewellery manufacturing company.

Grima is known as a great innovator and visionary of 'modern jewellery' during the 1960s and 70s. His recognisable aesthetic of organic, semi-precious stones as well as fine gems in unexpected juxtapositions moved away from the prevalent classical jewellery at the time.

Following the 1961 exhibition at the Goldsmith's Hall 'International Exhibition of Modern Jewellery 1899-1961’ Grima's recognition become widespread and subsequently led to his being jeweller to the royal, wealthy and famous.
