About the Item
An Art Deco diamond, chrysoprase, enamel, yellow gold and platinum, jabot pin, comprising two square sugar loaf chrysoprase cabochons, forty-four rose cut diamonds, and black enamel, set in platinum, with a yellow gold back and pin.
This striking brooch uses its geometric design and contrasting colours to create a truly exquisite, one-of-a-kind Art Deco piece. I have never seen a brooch quite like this, it is truly spectacular. Each end of the pin is shaped as a triangle, and set with a glowing, emerald-green chrysoprase. The chrysoprase stones are cut en cabochon, in the high-domed manner known as ‘sugarloaf’, the beautiful high-polished shine makes them look almost edible. The chrysoprase stones are surrounded by borders of shining black enamel, outlining the triangle shape, and creating beautiful openwork, with slim sections of enamel, truly impressive craftsmanship. Geometric sections of platinum set diamonds add a lightness and brightness to the brooch, along with a little sparkle. The brooch is fastened by pulling one end of the brooch away from the pin, which can then be re-attached through your garment. The pin and backing of the brooch is yellow gold. The brooch is in good condition, there is evidence of repair to the back of one of the chrysoprase sections. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The brooch measures 47mm high, 36.5mm wide, and is 7mm deep. The pin is 1mm wide.
