Art Deco Norwegian Guilloche Enamel Solje Brooch Aksel Holmsen Norway Silver

About the Item

A wonderful Art Deco Brooch by the esteemed Norwegian Jeweler Silversmith Aksel Holmsen. The "Solje" brooch was often used as part of the traditional Norwegian folk costume known as the Bunad. This jewel is silver gilt, 830 silver with a gold wash. There are three circular medallions each with a central guilloche enamel design in stunning robin's egg blue enamel with white enamel accents. The silver work is a delicate open work filigree design. This is one of the most beautiful Solje Brooches from Norway and it is in superb condition. Such a treasure! The brooch 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm) long and is 1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) wide. The brooch is hallmarked 830S for 830 silver and with the Aksel Holmsen mark.
