Early Georg Jensen Bird Eating Berries Sterling Brooch Pin 53 Denmark 1933-1944

About the Item

This is the large gorgeous early (1933-1944) Georg Jensen sterling silver pin brooch in the form of a bird eating berries with leaves in a gorgeous open work design. The brooch has the early Jensen mark of JG in a rectangle and is number 53. This pin is a wonderful example of Georg Jensen's craft! The simple curvilinear shapes and nature-inspired motif exemplify Jensen's unique Mid-Century Modernist style. This wonderful piece by a beloved silversmith would make a lovely addition to any vintage jewelry collection. Stamped on the back of the brooch are several markings, including "STERLING DENMARK 925" along with the Georg Jensen JG signature hallmark from 1933-44, and the number "53." This is the largest brooch in this series. It is 2 1/4 inches (6 cm) in diameter and weighs 22 grams. The clasp is a barrel clasp and the pin does have a tendency to slip out of the barrel.
