Mauricette Pinoteau 1980 Limoges Round Enamel Brooch In .925 Sterling Silver

About the Item

Modernist enamel brooch designed by Mauricette Pinoteau. A stunning very romantic pin brooch created in Limoges France by the enamelist artist Mauricette Pinoteau. Crafted as an unique one of a king piece in solid .925/.999 sterling silver in a round shaped frame with an enamel-on-copper abstract composition. It is an Art-Deco-inspired motif with a geometric design. Assorted colors in white, blue and green over silver-foil background. Fitted with a hinged bar and a security closing clasp to wear as a brooch. Technique: Hot enamel over silver foil on copper. Weight: 12.30 Grams, (7.88 Dwt). Measurements: Diameter of 32 mm (1.26 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the mark for the assay of the silver and signed, "M. PINOTEAU LIMOGES .925". Mauricette Pinoteau Mauricette Pinoteau is one of only two living enamelists artists who learned from the masters while working at the Atelier of Camille Fauré in the 1970. She is considered today as the only depository of the know-how and the memory of the Camille Fauré workshop. She entered the studio in 1972 and learned the demanding art of enamel until 1978. "I was 19 years old," she says. "I did not know anything about enamel. I came from the tapestry I had studied at Aubusson Art School." Andrée Fauré, daughter of Camille Fauré, was leading the workshop with her husband, Louis Malabre. Camille Fauré died in 1956. Along with her new teachers, the young apprentice discovers the fascinating world of enamel work. Everyone was respectful of the work of the other. The young people were there to learn, the old ones to transmit. Each had a specific function according to the disciplines: geometric enamel, painted enamel, and grisaille. The workshop had 25 people. They were free of their time. But their level of requirement was very high. If a defect was detected, the part was immediately destroyed, and they had to start all over again until they finally achieved perfect quality. They wanted to achieve perfection. Mauricette thus becomes a solid link in the transmission of the art of enamel. A well-placed trust because today, she is the only heiress of the know-how and the living memory of the Faure workshop liquidated in 1985. She opened her shop in Limoges in 1991, where she still works. Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this ring is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. All gemstones are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity. Often seen in the form of serving utensils and jewelry is rarely seen let alone available to acquire. The Memphis style Was emerged in 1981, when the Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass founded a group of artists and designers called Memphis. Bob Dylan’s song 'Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again' was playing on repeat during the group’s first meeting, which led to the group being named 'Memphis'. After the inaugural meeting, the group decided that they would meet again in February 1981. The members brought over 100 drawings with them, picturing a variety of bold, colorful designs with multiple stylistic influences. The Memphis Group went on to create furniture, fabrics, patterns, ceramics and other products in a distinctly Postmodern style that blended stylistic traits of 1950s kitsch, Art Deco, and Pop Art. If you love unashamedly brash and bold colors and patterns, you’ll be very happy to hear that the Memphis Style, the design style pioneered by the 1980s Memphis Group, is very much back in vogue. In 1985 Cleto Munari, set up a workshop-studio for the manufacture of unique objects in collaboration with some of the greatest architects, designers, artists, and writers in the world, among them Mario Botta, Alessandro Mendini, Alvaro Siza Vieira, Mimmo Paladino, Sandro Chia, and Dario Fo...
