Robert Lee Morris Gilded 8 inch Tusk Pin
About the Item
This is a listing for one single 8.25" gold plated brass Tusk pin. The photo shows two of them, for dramatic reasons, but these are sold separately. The Tusk pin became an iconic design of Robert Lee Morris in the late 1970's and he made them by creating a tapered tube out of brass sheet, and then soldering an angled cap to the open end. These brooches came in many sizes, and were promoted by Robert and fashion editors in the late 70's to be worn in groupings, two or three at a time, of different sizes. Worn in multiples, they looked like speeding rockets on ones body. Futuristic. Modern and architectural. These were popular during the rise of Studio 54, and the outrageous scale of these were perfect for the times they reflected back then and even now, as fashion leaves no rules intact.
