Victorian Scottish Agate Citrine Thistle Brooch

About the Item

Celtic Motifs galore on this Victorian Scottish Brooch of Agate and Citrine. How marvelous is the engraving! Truly a gem in a small package. No shortcut here from the jeweler. Magnificent engraved oak leaves spread over the face of this small gem and wrap around the citrine thistle flower. Oak leaves symbolize endurance, strength and regeneration in the language of flowers which all knew in the Victorian Era. Remember "From the Mighty Oak the Acorn Comes". Nature and symbolism were part of life. All parts of this mighty brooch are original. The stones are bloodstone and carnelian. Made during the height of Scottish jewelry in Europe c.1860. Size one inch diameter. Perfect condition.
