These clip on earrings are an amazing example of Kenneth Jay Lane at his peak. Pink 1960's chandelier earrings marked on the back with 'K.J.L.' - one of Lane's earliest signatures denoting that these earrings are from the 1960s. They are gold toned metal set with pink stones and clear rhinestones. They are in excellent condition. They measure 2 3/4" in length and measure 2" at their widest point. Kenneth Jay Lane was born in 1930 in Detroit, MI. He founded his costume jewelry firm in 1963. His designs were so popular that his initial collection at Saks Fifth Avenue sold out in one day. Lane’s jewelry has been worn by Diana Vreeland, Jacqueline Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Diana the Princess of Wales. One of Lane’s best known pieces is the three-strand imitation pearl necklace that was worn by Jacqueline Kennedy. Lane has appeared in Andy Warhol films, was mentioned in a song by by Lou Reed and appeared on numerous Best Dressed Lists.
