Drop dangle earrings designed by De Grisogono. Magnificent ultra modern pair of dangle earrings, created in Geneva Switzerland by the jewelry house of De Grisogono. These pieces has been crafted with a contemporary look in solid blackened gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. Embellished with very fine natural chocolate diamonds and fitted with posts for pierced ears (Removable) and hinged French omega backs for fastening clips. Diamonds: Mounted with great precision of a pave and flat burnish setting composed by 130 round brilliant cut diamonds, 6.56 carats, Chocolate color, VVS-1 clarity Weight: 40.95 grams, (26.25 Dwt). Measurements: Drop of 78 mm by Width of 16 mm (3.11 x 0.63 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the gold assay mark and signed, "DE GRISOGONO GENEVE .750". De Grisogono, is a Swiss luxury jeweller founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1993 by Lebanese-Italian black diamond specialist Fawaz Gruosi. The Italian name Grisogono is derived from the Latin Chrysogonus which comes from the Greek Chryssogonos χρῡσό-γονος, meaning "begotten of gold". In 2017, De Grisogono entered into a new partnership with former Leviev executives David and Lisa Klein. "Creation I," a necklace by de Grisogono, was sold for nearly Dh125 million, in 2017's Christie's sale. In 2017, the company set a new record at Christie's Magnificent Jewels sale in Geneva when it sold the world's biggest-ever emerald cut diamond offered at auction. The 163.41-carat D Flawless stone, which was cut from a 404 carat rough, was incorporated into a necklace designed by Fawaz Gruosi. It fetched 33.5 million Swiss francs, beating the previous record for a D Flawless diamond by nearly five million Swiss francs Collateral: They are accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Lebanese-Italian jeweler Fawaz Gruosi (b. 1952) founded the Geneva-based De Grisogono in 1993, naming the luxury jewelry company after his mother, who had been the Marquise de Grisogono. He wanted a name that would conjure elegance and rarity. Gruosi would soon have his own aristocratic nickname — “King of Black Diamonds” — for the stones that made his jewelry house famous.

Born in Beirut, Gruosi grew up in Florence and as a teenager got a job with the Florentine jeweler Torrini and went on to work for luxury jewelry houses Harry Winston and Bulgari in the years that followed. When De Grisogono was established, most jewelers favored the simplicity of white diamonds and platinum. Gruosi was more interested in color and diamonds with character. Along with the then-undervalued black diamonds, he designed vibrant pieces that exuberantly mixed stones like emeralds, sapphires, amber, pink opal and jade.

De Grisogono’s audacious pieces bedecked with black diamonds captured the fancy of well-heeled buyers in the 1990s, leading to the brand’s meteoric rise to fame. It entered the world of luxury watches in 2000 with the Instrumento Uno for men, which led to the development of the Crazy Skull in 2015. The playful made-to-order timepiece could be outfitted with up to 45 carats of gems.

Since the early aughts, De Grisogono has become synonymous with A-listers who donned the jeweler’s wares on red carpets; the company was also known for hosting an annual party at the Cannes Film Festival. De Grisogono made headlines in 2017 by partnering with Christie’s to sell a necklace made with a dazzling 163.41-carat emerald-cut diamond for $33.7 million — a record price for a D-color flawless diamond.

In January 2020, the jewelry house filed for bankruptcy. Today, Gruosi continues to sell his intricately designed decadent pieces from his namesake boutique in London.
