South Sea Pearl & Sapphire "Ball Hooper" Hinged Post Drop Earrings in 18K Gold

Eytan Brandes made the halo frames for these earrings before picking out the center stone because he knew wanted to use orange sapphires, which he loves, but wasn't sure what would look best inside a ring of these fiery little bad boys. It turns out EVERYTHING looks good in an orange sapphire halo. But what ultimately won the day were these two gorgeous 16mm shimmery blue-gray mabe pearls. We call these our Serendipity earrings because it was just by idle chance that Eytan happen to spy a pair of dated clip-ons that have been sitting in his pearl drawer for about a century. And it was a minor miracle that they fit his new halos perfectly -- like they've been sitting in that drawer all these years waiting for Eytan to save them from fusty, dusty, musty clip-on purgatory! The 56 sapphires -- totaling 0.99 carats -- are natural, faceted and meticulously hand-set with tiny beads, pavé-style. The closures are simple shepherd wires.
