About the Item
5 mm square and 5 x 20 mm rectangular cut slices of Gibeon meteorite are set within 18K gold clasps to create this interesting and unique post earring design. The Gibeon meteorite(s) fell in prehistoric times in Namibia and was a huge event creating a strewn field over 240 miles long. Fragments were first discovered in 1836. The crystal structure of the iron-nickel meteorite displays intersecting lines known as Widmanstätten patterns. These fascinating relics of that interplanetary collision are now intriguing adornment for your day!

After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
