Steven Battelle Sikhote-Alin Meteorite 18K Gold Post Earrings
About the Item
Two approximately 10mm long irregular fragments of the Sikhote-Alin meteorite displaying fusion crusts from their flaming entry into the atmosphere are set in handmade 18K bezels with surrounding organic line texture 18K double bezel in these unique post earrings. A large iron meteorite fell on the Sikhote-Alin Mountains, in southeastern Russia, in 1947. Meteorite falls had been witnessed and fragments recovered before, but never of this magnitude. A total of 24 tons was recovered. These earrings come with comfortable silicone ear nuts. A conversation starter. From the depths of space to you!

Steven Battelle
After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
