In 1966, Salvador Dalí embarked on a creative journey, crafting two medals for the esteemed 'Monnaie de Paris' (The Paris Mint), initiating the minting of his distinctive currency—the "Dalí d'Or." Inspired by Louis XIV's Louis d'Or. Driven by a lifelong attraction to gold, Dali passionately delved into the creation of his own line of intricately engraved gold coins, each a testament to his artistic vision. The following year, Piaget unveiled a limited edition collection of watches and jewelry, featuring coins from the Dali mint.
This captivating gold ring, beyond its role as jewelry, is a true work of art and history—a ½ Dalí d'Or coin, delicately mounted in a signed Piaget and VCA 18k setting adorned with European convention marks. Symbolizing Dali and his muse, Gala, these coins, crafted over a decade in collaboration with Huguenin Frères, come in four denominations, ranging from half a Dalí d'Or to five Dalí d'Or.
This limited edition ensemble was presented in Paris, where Salvador Dalí, seated in a transparent inflatable chair, presided over the unveiling.
