About the Item

Antique silver Macedonian Coin Medallion Pendant Necklace. Antique 3rd Cent BC Greek coin, set in 21k gold bezel, embellished with small diamonds and garnet accents. The Bail is highlighted with Lightning Ridge Opal, also set in a bezel. The inspiration for this pendant comes from the coin imagery and ancient manual techniques of jewelry making, such as granulation, fusing, and metal forming. These techniques were introduced by pre-Classical Sumerian, Mycenaean, and Minoan cultures and built upon during Greek Classical and Hellenistic periods when naturalistic forms were introduced. My designs are influenced by the skill and the laborious attention to detail paid by the artisans throughout thousands of years of jewelry design. While inspired by history, this pendant is created for a modern contemporary wearer. ----21k solid gold, 17.2 g ***I always start out with pure 24k gold, bringing it to 21k concentration by mixing it with fine silver and copper. 21K gold is more durable than 22K but does not take away from a luscious 22K color. ---Antique Greek Tetradrachm, Silver coin, depicting Alexander Macedonian as Hercules/Zeus, 336-323 BC ---7 Colored diamonds; tsavorite garnet ---Lightning Ridge black opal Make a woman in your life feel special with this handmade pendant, a one-of-a-kind, timeless classic.
