Diamond Solitaire Necklace with 0.73 Carat G-VS1 Skinny Oval Set in White Gold
About the Item
This necklace features a diamond we've had in the shop for a while, but it never really found the right ring setting, being a bit on the skinny side. The Boss finally decided its elongated shape would look better on a neck than on a finger.
The stone is set in an open bezel and hangs on a 1.3mm Italian cable chain with a lobster clasp. The bezel and chain are 14 karat white gold.
The brilliant cut oval diamond is a natural, untreated, earth-mined stone. It's eye clean and high color. It has an EGL (#US922776101D) mini-certification with the following results:
Weight: 0.73 carats
Dimensions: 8.52mm x 4.69mm x 2.81mm
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: Faint
A couple of things to note on EGL's stone map, shown in our photo array:
First, the stone has a few extra facets on the pavilion at the tips; EGL drew in these extra facets on their map. The gemcutter may have added these because of the stone's long shape.
Second, the inclusions are mostly clustered at its edges, near the girdle. This makes the stone a good candidate for a bezel (vs. prong) setting, since the bezel effectively conceals almost all of the stone's internal imperfections.
The total length of the chain is just under 16". The total weight of this piece is 2.4 grams.
The mini-certification is included with the pendant, as is an appraisal for insurance purposes.
