About the Item
This necklace and cuff bracelet demi-parure suite presented together are a striking juxtaposition of hyper-real and abstract with gems as vivacious and delicate as nature itself. FORMS, a high jewelry house established in Hong Kong in 2010, produces fewer than 100 pieces per year—out-of-the-ordinary sculptural pieces with deceptively simple formal elements that have been reduced and distilled to essentials, so their beauty can spring forth.
The necklace features tactilely pleasing and expressive calla lilies, evocative of strong feminine qualities and tinged with 1940s glamour. Their curves and voluminous forms suggest a mysterious sensuality. The naturalistic, almost hyper-realistic depiction of the blooms look fresh and dewy. In fact, the jewelers at FORMS aim to “give their signature pieces a sense of natural weightlessness.” Mission accomplished. Crafted in 18K white gold, the necklace is set with 2,145 diamonds weighing approximately 63.18 carats total that make the calla lilies’ delicate spathes glisten, and 10 fancy sapphires weighing approximately 89.93 carats total that adorn their centers, or spadices.
The principal motif of the bracelet—completely abstracted and unexpected—isolates the spadix of the calla lily portrayed by fancy sapphires. One cannot ignore this minimalist yet spectacular artistic choice of reducing the flower to only this element. The sculptural cuff bracelet is crafted in 18K white gold adorned with 18K yellow gold veins and set with 3,300 diamonds weighing approximately 77.26 carats total. Nine fancy sapphires weighing approximately 81.50 carats total dot the bracelet with an effortless yet undeniable life force.
All sapphires which range in color from blue to purple are certified by GRS, stating that the stones are natural of Madagascar origin with no indication of thermal treatment. Four hundred smaller sapphires weighing approximately 5.32 carats commingle with the small round diamonds to create a subtly different sparkle and hue. One of the lovelier details of the necklace is how they adorn the delicate links near the clasp—pointed oval links that echo the outlines of the blooms.
