Indulge in an extraordinary Sapphire, Rose Cut Diamond, Platinum Pendant with the image of a winged Fairy or Angel is a Museum Quality Jewel. The Belle Epoque - Art Deco pendant is centered by the extraordinary carved Mother of Pearl medallion with an image of a winged fairy or angel. The angel is set in an open work beaded setting in Platinum atop 18 Karat Gold which is adorned with Rose Cut Diamonds and square cut Sapphires. The pendant is surrounded by a halo of seed pearls. The bale is further set with Rose Cut Diamonds.
The workmanship in the carving of the fairy or angel is magnificent. She has a gorgeous face, flowing hair, beautiful wings and a halo. This is a masterpiece of early carving. The setting is very special with beaded canetille edges throughout the open work platinum design. The Rose Cut Diamonds and Sapphires are set in beaded collets within the platinum. Five graduated Rose Diamonds are set within each of the four corners of the pendant. The pendant is surrounded by a halo of lovely white pearls. At the top is another collet set Rose Diamond which leads to the Diamond set bale.
The jewel is a Belle Epoque to Art Deco Masterpiece of jewelry making. It is rare and exceedingly fine. We have never seen another pendant like this with the combination of the Fairy or Angel, Mother of Pearl, Sapphires, Diamonds and Platinum.
The pendant is a wonderful large size. It is 2 1/4 inches tall. On the reverse is engraved the date 6-12-1924 with monogram initials that may be R L.
The pendant is 2 1/4 inches (6 cm) long including the bale. Without the bale the pendant is 1 7/8 inches long. The pendant is 1 5/8 inches (4 cm) wide.
The pendant is Platinum atop 18 Karat gold.
