Frosty Baroque Akoya Pearls in 17" Two-Strand Necklace with Vintage Gold Clasp
About the Item
We got these gorgeous and distinctive pearls at a trade show* in July of 2023. They're cultured saltwater Akoya pearls boasting unusually high luster and a great range of icy-cold colors -- like two strings of offbeat Xmas lights to hang around your neck!
It should be emphasized that these pearls are not treated or dyed; their incredible metallic sheen and range of varied hues are straight from the oyster.
Body colors include blue, silver and white, while overtones include green, pink, yellow and even orange!
This necklace is about color and shine, not flawlessness. Shapes range from near-round to drop, to flat-out baroqe. All of these pearls have skin flaws, typical of baroque pearls, but a few of the pearls are very wrinkled and three of the pearls have discolored pits.
Both strands are graduated, but it's pretty subtle. Sizes range from just under 7mm to 8mm.
The two strands are nested closely together -- 16.5" and 17" long.
The pearls are fully knotted in grey silk.
The 14 karat white gold clasp was salvaged from a conventional cultured pearl necklace. It's a 14mm disc-shaped box clasp with a figure eight safety catch latching cleanly to its bottom.
Eytan gave this sleek and unfussy clasp a good polishing and added a shimmery matte finish to the top and sides.
