Ancient Roman Republic 1st Century BC Wolf Coin 22k Gold Pendant
About the Item
An authentic silver "drachm" coin minted under the Roman Republican Moneyer (minting authority) P Satrienus in 77 BC, features a she-wolf facing left, which relates to the wolf being the foster mother of Romulus and Remus in the founding legend of Rome. The opposite side of the coin displays the goddess Roma herself wearing a helmet. This finely stuck and detailed historical coin is set within a 22K gold "triangular stacked jawan" handmade granulated mounting designed by Steven Battelle. This pendant is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. The 22K handmade woven chain shown is not included, but can be ordered additionally. It comes in a 20 inch length. We discount our chains 20% when ordered with a pendant.

After a chance trip to SouthEast Asia in 1987, Steven Battelle became fascinated with the jewelry and iconology from the ancient cultures of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Asia. Eventually forming a partnership with a dedicated group of Balinese village goldsmiths using painstaking handmade techniques, they together create unique designs that incorporate those timeless and classic motifs. He incorporates primarily cabochon gemstones as well as ancient Greek and Roman coins, each piece capturing the feelings of a bygone age.
