"Beehive Medusa" Thimble Fob with Zoisite on Steel Chain with Gold Fittings
About the Item
Eytan Brandes used an old sterling silver thimble as the basis for this cool new, one-of-a-kind fob.
The thimble's age and maker are unknown; we purchased it from a dealer in vintage and antique thimbles, but this one doesn't have any markings other than "925" for sterling silver.
We also don't know if the thimble lady is actually Medusa, but she definitely has herself some Big Hair.
The stone on the bottom is a 23 carat zoisite with pronounced black stripes in a distinctive bullet cabochon shape. It's set in a 14 karat yellow gold bezel made by Eytan specifically for this fob.
The top loops are hand-pulled wire in recycled 14 karat gold.
For the chain, we chose one of our perennial favorites: a 1.5mm German steel round omega with a 14 karat yellow gold lobster clasp. We love this chain because the steel (which never tarnishes) is soft and smooth, and if the clasp creeps toward the front (as clasps like to do), it complements the gold in the fob.
