Victorian Enamel Dog Heart Jack Russell Terrier Pendant Necklace 14 Karat Gold
About the Item
This is a gorgeous and very rare antique Victorian Enamel Dog Heart Pendant. The extraordinary pendant has a fully modeled face of a dog set on a scalloped heart pendant in 14 Karat Gold. The face of the dog is absolutely charming and it is so rare to find a fully three dimensional animal done with gorgeous enamel adornment. The dog has black, grey and white enamel and the most wonderful expression on its face. The dog may be a Jack Russell Terrier, another Terrier breed or another breed. The dog head sets on a lovely scalloped heart. The jewel is 14 Karat Gold. The pendant dates to the Victorian to Edwardian to Art Deco periods when enamel work was highly prized, as it is today. We have never seen a similar piece and it is so very special. The pendant is the work of a master artisan! The charming face of the dog on the heart is an absolute delight and will dance delightfully around the neck of the lucky wearer.
The pendant is 1 5/8 inches (40mm) long including the bales. Without the bales the heart is 1 3/8 inches (34mm) long. The heart is 1 1/4 inches (30mm) wide. The pendant is 1/2 inch (13mm) deep.
The pendant weighs 8.3 grams.
There may be two tiny flecks off the enamel in the eyebrow area. These do not detract from the piece in any way in our opinion but we wanted to mention it.
