Antique Old Mine Cut Diamond Band Ring in Georgian Style
About the Item
This is the second of two charming Georgian style diamond bands I've created using genuine Georgian period old mine cut diamonds from a damaged antique French brooch. (a solitaire ring that looks amazing paired with this band is also available, and two pairs of earrings are in the works) The cut down silver collets are also original to the period, though we have removed the closed backings of the settings, so it is now easy to keep the diamonds clean and no worry to have the diamonds get wet - much more practical.
Four fiery cushion cut diamonds in sterling silver collet settings sit side by side across the face of the 18K yellow gold ring, with lovely hand engraving adorning each shoulder.
Each chunky old cushion cut diamond has great color and lots of character. Estimated to be approximately .14 to .16 carats each, the total estimated carat weight would be approximately .56 to .64 carats.
Two of the diamonds have amazing internal clarity - beautifully clean even when viewed under magnification. One of the other diamonds has a couple of very tiny clear inclusions I can see with magnification and the other has some dark carbon and a chip that I can see with my naked eye. The three other diamonds have just a tiny bit of expected wear from age which do not interfere with their brilliance and great fire.
Each foliate engraved & patinaed shoulder gradually tapers from approximately 6.9 mm to the narrowest part of the band - the very back, which is approximately 1.81 mm. Nice and substantial, the band has a classic polished finish, allowing custom sizing, as needed. Inside, the ring is hallmarked for 18K gold and sterling silver. On my scale, the ring has a nice weight of 4.19 grams.
Currently a size 7, the ring may be sized up or down within reason.
