Double Row Ring with Antique Diamonds - Wedding, Anniversary or Stacking Band
About the Item
I'm delighted to offer one more ring that I've made from a suite of late Georgian diamonds I rescued from an antique French brooch. This one-of-a-kind piece is quite special as it's a geometric double row ring that would make an amazing wedding or anniversary band, or even a stacking ring. (please see two single row bands and one solitaire ring that were made from the same suite of diamonds, in my shop) So much more wonderful in person, photos just don't do this piece justice.
Masterfully crafted of 18K yellow gold, with the antique diamonds each set in patinated sterling silver, the ring holds a total of 12 cushiony rectangular old mine cut diamonds, for a total carat weight of 1.07 carats.
Very white and extremely fiery, the chunky old diamonds are full of character as they were each hand cut and vary a little in their charming rectangular shape with open culets. So bright and lively, they are not at all dull or gloomy as some diamonds of the period were. A few diamonds show a little expected wear under magnification, but they remain in overall very good condition for their age and are secure in their new open backed settings. (originally, they were in closed foil backed settings that would not allow easy cleaning)
With a great presence on the hand, the face of the ring measures approximately 19.6 x 8.04 mm; the rise off the finger is approximately 3.2 mm, making the ring particularly comfortable and easy to wear.
The sculptural shoulders are each set with a diamond, and taper into a classic, sturdy gold band. Inside the ring is marked for 18K gold and sterling silver. On my scale, the finished weight is a nice 4.66 grams.
A sizable size 7, the ring may be safely sized up or down within reason.
