About the Item

While not flexible like a true tobogas style, this fun pair of matching 18K gold diamond bands certainly resemble the tubogas jewelry popularized in the 1930s and 1940s. Great worn together or on their own, I think they look particularly good when stacked with other rings. Each band is set to the front with seven small single cut diamonds in white gold. The diamonds measures approximately 1.2 mm in diameter, for a total of approximately .056 carats in each ring, and approximately .112 carats in the set. They have nice color with some stones having some tiny inclusions visible with magnification; one has a small surface reaching inclusion and one has an extremely tiny nick. They do look bright and twinkly to the naked eye. (nicer than my photos reflect) The white gold face & bead settings are somewhat rustic and do show some wear from age - I would recommend having the beads re-tipped. (if you would like me to have that done for you, please message me for a quote) The only other condition issue to note is that one band has had a small repair where the yellow gold and white gold meet on one side. (I can see this with magnification but it's not apparent to my naked eye) I love the coiled look of the yellow gold, and the completely round profile/interior makes them very comfortable. The coiled part of the band measures approximately 2.43 mm wide, while the white gold faces are a bit narrower - closer to 2 mm wide. Together, the pair have a nice weight of 5.93 grams on my scale. PLEASE NOTE: the bands register as a size 6 on a ring sizing mandrel, but based on their style they are fitting me more like a size 6.5. Their construction is such that resizing is not recommended.

Condition:

Repaired: One band has a small repair where the edge of white and yellow gold meet. I cannot see it with my naked eye, but it is visible with magnification. This repair appears stable and was done sometime in the past. Wear consistent with age and use. Some of the bead settings are worn and could use new beads and a few have already been touched up.
