Emerald & White Enamel Wide Gold Band Ring

Crafted of buttery solid yellow gold marked as 14K but testing a bit higher for me, this unusual ring features a cushion shaped emerald bezel-set atop a wide and heavy enameled band. The bright spring green of the emerald absolutely "pops" against the white enamel - this is a ring with great presence that will be noticed when worn. The estimated carat weight of the emerald is 1 carat, perhaps a slightly more. Substantial in both weight and width, the band is approximately 13.4 mm wide (a little over 1/2 an inch), weighing 12.70 grams on my scale. Measuring approximately 7 x 6 mm, the chunky, cushiony emerald has an extremely pretty light green color, that looks especially lovely against the rich gold of its hefty bezel, and against the white enamel of the band. With expected natural inclusions – including one barely reaching the surface, the emerald remains in very good vintage condition with only very slight wear to its surface seen with magnification. Its beautiful cut gives it a lot of sparkle and life. (I've tried to capture the color of the emerald as well as possible, please know that the color may look a little different on your screen than it does on mine.) I love how the gold border along the upper and lower edges of the band tie into the gold bezel of the emerald, making the white enamel contrast even more. The enamel shows light wear here and there under magnification...I only see one chip along the edge of the enamel with my naked eye, which is at the back edge of the band. With a sizable and striking presence on the hand, the face of the ring is approximately 20 x 13.4 mm, with a rise off the finger of approximately 4.2 mm at its highest point - the table of the emerald. Inside the band, I find only a hand inscribed mark of "585" (the European mark for 14K gold) with no makers marks. It does test higher in gold content for me, even when I test the area someone previously scratched inside for testing. I found this ring in Europe, but I'm not sure where it was made. A bit over a size 5.5, the ring cannot be sized due to the enamel work. Given its width this stunner might be best for someone with longish fingers.
