About the Item

Offered is a striking enameled diamond Snake Ring by Masriera of Barcelona, Spain. (Masriera began in 1839 and continues to be known for their intricate and beautiful Art Nouveau jewelry) The Snake ring will be accompanied by its original inner and outer Masriera boxes, as well as its original certificate of authenticity with photograph. This is my favorite color combination of this style Snake ring, with marvelous pale green guilloche enamel, along with orange, a deeper green, a bit of white, and red enamel on its little grin. Small, sparkly round brilliant cut diamonds are set as his eyes, as well as adorning the back of his head, which complement the superb scale detailing. (please note that your screen may display colors a bit differently than mine) Beautifully crafted of 18K yellow gold and quite substantial, the ring weighs 14.4 grams on my scale. Wrapping around the finger a little over two times - the ring has a significant presence on the hand. At the widest point the snake measures approximately 16.32 mm (a little over 5/8 of an inch), and at its narrowest (the back of the band) it measures approximately 8.28 mm (a little over 5/16 of an inch) Eleven small diamonds are set behind the enameled head of the snake, with two small diamonds set as eyes. I estimate the total carat weight to be approximately .065 carats. Inside, the ring retains its original hallmarks including: "Masriera" "750" and the number "C-5299-C'. The ring remains in very good condition, with only slight signs of wear to the enamel that seem to blend into the naturalistic design. The accompanying certificate in its folder, provides information on Masriera, as well as a photograph of the original design and a reference number. The outer Masriera cardboard box shows some old scuffs; the interior burgundy presentation box shows only light signs of wear.
