George Sawyer Mokume Sterling, Copper and Yellow Gold Round-Edge Wedding Ring
About the Item
A striking round edge wedding band in the traditional George Sawyer Mokume style. This 8 mm ring features 18K yellow gold edges surrounding sterling silver & etched copper. Interior stamp "18K Ster & Cu GS © 6/12" . Style Number is RE87SC. Ring is size 10. The inclusion of the straight lines of a round edge lend a geometric contrast to the more random quality of the Mokume and adds a touch of formality, rather like a picture frame around a painting.
After studying the ancient Japanese art of folded and layered metal techniques know as Mokume, Mr. Sawyer created his own internationally recognized complex signature style from his Minneapolis, Minnesota studio. His use of color and pattern creates one-of-a-kind, continuous, seamless bands that reflect his passion for jewelry as art.
