About the Item

Navajo silver with inlayed oval row of turquoise ring designed by Master Silversmith, Victor Moses Begay (marked "VMB") during the 1970s. Native American-designed vintage Southwestern United States. Intentional patina on inner metal to contrast with polished silver. Dimensions: 1.625" L x 0.8125" W (or 41 cm x 21 cm) Free Shipping. Care Recommendation: To keep your VMB silver ring from tarnishing, clean and store carefully. Use a polishing cloth. (Don’t use silver cleaning solutions on it; it may damage or discolor the stones.) Store it in a sealed plastic bag to prevent air or moisture damage. For this piece that has intentional oxidation, poke an air hole in the bag to keep the design intact. Please keep away from extreme temperatures, moisture, perfumes, natural skin oils, and harsh chemicals (Source: Home and Away Gallery Website) Victor Moses Begay rings are some of the most collectable pieces for vintage Navajo jewelry and also seem to be some of the most easy ones to identify because they are marked clearly with the VMB stamp, making this an easily identifiable authentic Native American silver ring. Meaning of Turquoise: Believed to bring protection and prosperity. Thought to bring good luck to the wearer. (source: Palms Trading Website) How I found it: I am a self-proclaimed Urban Treasure Hunter and I search through auctions, estate sales, garage sales, and anywhere else I can think to look. I found this one in an old fishing tackle box and it seemed to be long-forgotten. I assume the original owner had removed it during a fishing trip. I didn't know what it was when I found it. Through this journey, I learned about the Navajo Silversmiths and their incredible legacy. When I first found it, I thought it was inscribed to someone with those intitials. It took me a long time to figure out that it was actually a maker's mark. I wrote a dealer who specializes in Navajo Jewelry to confirm what I had found and it was happy news, indeed!
