Vintage 18K Gold Diamond Infinity Love Knot Ring, Hallmarked 1985
About the Item
I’m pleased to offer a wonderful, classic & elegant diamond eternity love knot ring from the 1980's.
Crafted of solid 18K yellow gold, the ring features an eternity knot design, sparkling with 20 very clean and fiery modern round brilliant cut diamonds. Original hallmarks remain inside the band, as the ring was imported into the UK. The total estimated carat weight is approximately .18 carats.
Each of the long curves of the knot are bead-set with 7 sparkly white diamonds, while the small curves are set with three equally sparkly graduated diamonds. Measuring approximately 1.2 to 1.5 mm in diameter, these are fine quality diamonds with good color and clarity. I would judge their color to be in the G-H-I range of near-colorless; they are completely eye-clean, as well as very clean under magnification - with no damages. Even the bead settings remain in very good condition, with only slight wear seen with magnification.
Rather substantial looking on the hand, the face of the ring measures approximately 17.8 x 9 mm with a rise off the finger of approximately 3 mm at its highest point - making this really comfortable and easy to wear.
The band remains sturdy (with no signs of having been sized in the past), with a maker's mark of "PG Ltd" inside, along with UK import marks for 1985. On my scale, the ring has a finished weight of 4.2 grams. (so, it has a nice bit of heft to it)
Size 6.5 on my ring mandrel, it also fits my size 6.75 finger comfortably, though it's quite tight on my size 7 finger. It could be sized within reason by a good bench jeweler.
This would be a special ring suitable for an anniversary or other sentimental occasion, but also makes a stylish "right hand ring"
