Vintage 18K Gold Diamond "S" Medallion Pendants

About the Item

Originally vintage cufflinks from the 1960s to 1980's, these diamond-set initial "S" pendant medallions are wonderful to wear layered with multiple chains and pendants, or on their own - and are stylish for both women and men. Crafted of 18K yellow gold, with lower karat white gold accents, each pendant medallion has an applied "S" set with 10 small modern round brilliant cut diamonds. The polished white gold initial and the fluted white gold border contrast nicely with the rich color of the high karat gold. I am offering the pendants individually or as a pair. Each medallion is approximately 20 mm in diameter or a little over 3/4 of an inch, with a total drop length of approximately 1 inch including the gold jump ring that has been added. Their weight is slightly different, the one with horizontal texture to the yellow gold weighs 4.55 grams on my scale and the other, with vertical texture, weighs 4.53 grams on my scale.) The small, sparkly white diamonds are estimated at .20 carats for each pendant, with very nice, near-colorless color. Under magnification, I see only a few tiny inclusions and one very teeny tiny chip in the horizontally textured pendant; the vertically textured pendant has one diamond with a small abrasion or surface natural, and a few tiny inclusions seen with magnification. A few of the bead settings look to have been touched up in the past. They are all lively and bright diamonds that look great to the eye. In very good vintage condition, the medallions show slight superficial wear, including some smoothing to the original milgrain edging on the applied "S" motifs. The reverse side currently shows where the backing for the cuff links were attached - but, I am happy to have that newly buffed and polished if you prefer. (Please send me a message to let me know)

Additions or alterations made to the original: These were originally a pair of vintage men's cufflinks that have been converted into pendant medallions. So, the jump rings have been added, and on the reverse of the pendant you can see where the cuff link mechanisms were once in place. Wear consistent with age and use.
