About the Item

Signet Intaglio Ring featuring banded / two-layered/banded Sardonyx stone with the heraldic depiction of a Sword in the middle of the shield under the Knight's Helmet with horns decorated with plumage. This is a Coat of Arms of the Swedish noble family of Gyllensvärd ( Golden Sword) I have one more ring with a symbol of Sword but on the shield under the Nobility crown that also used to belong to the member of Gyllensvärd kin. You may still find it in my inventory. The last image of the gallery demonstrates that second ring in detail. Note - the second ring sells separately and will not be included. The body of the stone is Black with a layer of light blue on its surface measuring 12 mm x 10 x 3 mm deep / ca. 5 ct. Sardonyx stone is considered to be an ideal medium for the art of intaglio and relief carving. Very well done hand carving work - it makes a fine impression on soft Plasticine or seal wax. The carved sword is just 4 mm long. This ring was made in Europe, and dates to ca. 19 - early 20 century. Not hallmarked, the metal tested solid 18K Gold. Size: Ø 8.75 US / 18.69 mm. Most likely it used to belong to a Man, but the design of this ring is unisex and it will look on the finger of a Woman if the size is right. It can be sized up or down. Sizing is possible for additional payment.
