Art Deco 18K White Gold Flower Blossom Wedding Band
About the Item
It's so hard to find Art Deco era wedding bands in such amazing condition - especially those that have the wonderful carved floral designs so coveted from this period.
Measuring approximately 2.3 mm in width, with a rise/thickness of approximately 1.87 mm, this wedding ring features a very crisp and dimensional eternity design of flower blossoms with stylized vines, a stippled background, and milgrain edging - continuing uninterrupted around the band. Its slender, straight profile enables it to sit well with many styles of engagement rings, though it has a nice weight and distinctive design, so it also works well worn on its own. (the flowers are likely orange blossoms which were the most popular bridal flower at that time)
Inside, the ring is marked for 18K gold (and I have tested to confirm its purity) as well as with a partial maker's mark I can't make out. On my scale, the finished weight is 2.69 grams, which is a bit hefty for a slender band of this style.
On my sizing mandrel it registers just under a size 5.75 but is fitting my finger a little more generously - closer to a size 6, I would say. (how it fits you will partly depend on the shape of your finger and knuckles) There is plenty of room inside the ring, should you wish to have a hand engraved inscription added. (please note that this ring may only be sized if you don't mind interrupting the pattern. If it is sized down a skilled jeweler could likely match up the pattern well, but going up in size would mean a small plain, polished area at the back.)
A wonderful Art Deco period ring, in excellent condition. It shows only the slightest bit of wear inside, seen with magnification. It came to me very dirty and I am still working to get it completely clean in all the textured areas.
