George III Sterling Silver Sauce Ladle by Peter, Ann, & William Bateman

About the Item

This sterling silver sauce ladle was made by Peter, Ann, & William Bateman of the famed Bateman silversmithing family. The piece has a date mark indicating it was manufactured in London in 1804. The piece has a period monogram to the handle which reads 'JEM', likely the initials of the original owner. The piece is in good antique condition however has a slight warp/bend to the central part of the handle. It should be noted that in the image of the hallmarks that the maker's mark is not visible, however when viewing it in person it is more readily visible. A charming addition to a collection of Bateman silver or for a collector of Georgian flatware. Marked - London hallmarks for 1804 and rubbed maker's mark for Peter, Ann, & William Bateman Measures - 17cm L Total weight of piece - 39.5 grams
