This extraordinary & extremely rare antique pocket watch by Longines is a Minute Repeater Chronograph – an ultimate find for collectors! Indeed, this captivating timepiece is more than just a pocket watch watch— its distinguished addition that could elevate the status of any serious collection. Repeater pocket watches come in three types: the quarter repeater, the five-minute repeater and at the pinnacle sits the minute repeater, considered the finest of all. It precisely chimes the exact time for the hours and minutes, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of its maker. As if being a superb minute repeater weren’t enough, this piece also includes a chronograph function, ensuring the precise timekeeping. While a single complication is impressive, the addition of a second makes this piece truly exceptional. ~~~ Designed as a double hunter & (can be opened from both sides allowing the timepiece to stand as a desk clock), crafted with refined elegance, the CASE is fully performed in 18K yellow gold, measuring 55mm across by 75mm from the bottom to the top of the bow Lids are stamped with 18K 750, bearing Longines hallmarks & a serial number, signed with “Chronographe-Compteur Longines Repetition a Minute” White porcelain DIAL is in beautiful condition, featuring original hands, subsidiary seconds at 9 o'clock, 30-minute register at 3 o'clock black Roman numerals & original spade hands Longines mechanical manual jewelled MOVEMENT calibre 19.20 is a masterpiece in its own right, running strong & accurate Total item’s weight: 131.4gr. This important centre second Flyback Chronograph Pocket Watch by Nicole, Nielsen & Co dates back to circa 1864, retailed by Mac Donnell & Co, Sydney (signed to the dial) It is in a great vintage condition & in excellent working order & an ultimate collector’s item - used to belong to William (Bill) Bradshaw. Invented & patented by A. Nielsen, a flyback chronograph is a type of watch that enables the chronograph function to be reset and restarted instantly with a single button press. Unlike a standard chronograph, which requires three separate steps—stopping, resetting, and starting— the flyback mechanism combines all three into one seamless action. Designed as a Double Hunter, (can be opened from both sides allowing the timepiece to stand as a desk clock) the piece is centring a white porcelain regulator format dial, featuring original hands, subsidiary seconds at 9 o'clock, hour indication subsidiary dial at 3 o'clock, minutes and the chronograph indications are on the outer radial dial which features 5-minute makers. Measuring 53mm, 18K Yellow Gold Case, with single pusher chronograph and patent Nicole Nielsen setting, has both lids numbered 7602 (same number is on a movement), bearing 18K gold stamp & English (London) hallmarks: crown, leopard head, letter date (1864) & sponsor’s mark “A.N.” – Adolphe Nielsen – who was an inventor of flyback mechanism. His initials AN are in cameo within a rectangular surround. Powered by Manual Movement, engraved “Nielsen Capt 14 Soho Square, London” and numbered 7602 (meaning the movement was designed for this particular pocket watch) Total item’s weight: 170gr. The piece comes in generic box, accompanied by watch report & 6 months warranty Nicole, Nielsen & Co. was founded in 1839 by Swiss-born watchmakers Charles Victor Adolphe Nicole and Jules Philippe Capt. By 1858, the company had moved to larger premises at 14 Soho Square, where it remained until its closure in 1934. Nicole & Capt produced movements and watches for renowned names such as E. J. Dent, Charles Frodsham, and others. From around 1870 and for the next 60 years, Nicole Nielsen was known for crafting some of the finest and most complex English watches ever made.
