Mannequin Seta.
By James Coignard
Located in Malmo, SE
Murano Glass. Signed and numbered EA 2/3. Free shipment worldwide. With just a few strokes of his brush he conjures up an entire world. James Coignard extends the boundaries between concrete and abstract. He knows how to create chromatic melodies that shift in timbre from cobalt blue to blood red. His pictures are an artistic epicentre where lines, letters and numbers meld with vigorous swashes of colour.” That is how the writer Johan Persson has described the artist’s paintings. With this exhibition we honour James Coignard, showing some of his last carborundum engravings and paintings as well as presenting the book “L’œuvre gravé de James Coignard” volume VI. In this edition, we have gathered together all the engravings that James Coignard produced between June 2005 and his decease, on 7 March 2008. Behind him he left many fond memories and a life’s work as a great artist. James Coignard’s principal modes of expression were oil on canvas and gravure au carborundum, but also in bronze and glass sculptures as well as in ceramics. His work has been shown on more than 400 exhibitions, primarily in Central Europe and Scandinavia, but also in Canada and the USA. His first Swedish exhibition was at Malmö Museum in 1956. The early 1970s saw the start of a long-term liaison with Galleri Östermalm in Stockholm, owned by Editions Sonet. They came to represent him in Scandinavia and edited several volumes of his graphic works. It was not until 2003 that we at Galleri GKM Siwert Bergström...

Trente-Troisiéme Situation Humaine: Etre un Intellectuel en possession d'un Dict
By Curt Stenvert
Located in Wien, 9
Title: Trente-Troisiéme Situation Humaine: Etre un Intellectuel en possession d'un Dictionnaire pour les Illettrés Curt Stenvert was an Austrian avant-garde artist who initially worked as a painter. His artistic practice gradually expanded to include cinematic works and object art. His works are still internationally acclaimed today. He received his artistic training through his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He studied there with Albert Paris Gütersloh and Fritz Wotruba, which enabled him to deal with aspects of movement and perspective. This resulted in his aluminium plexiglass sculptures. His cinematic works were also influenced by his preoccupation with movement. Movement became a central motif in his works. Stenvert introduces the viewer to the biological, psychological, sociological and philosophical conditions of human existence. He developed experimental, feature-length and documentary films, which won international awards. He had solo museum exhibitions in Sweden, Italy and Germany and took part in the 1966 Venice Biennale. The social aspect preoccupied Stenvert throughout and he translated his impressions and thoughts of student unrest, social protests...

Outsider Art Wall Sculpture: 'Numbers'
By Gerard Cambon
Located in New York, NY
Gérard Cambon was born in 1960 in Toulouse (Fr). He has a degree in political science and is a self-taught artist. In the earlier years of his life practiced and experimented with collage and model making. Later, with an interest in old machines and patinas he started collecting old and used objects, tools, and fragments of items whose previous lives remained obvious. When he travels, one of his greatest pleasures is to find materials in antique shops or ironmongeries. In 1994, he began creating Locomobiles and reliefs and presented them to the public for the first time at “La Jeune Peinture,” a Parisian art fair. In 1995 , he stayed during 8 months in the hospital for eight months (leukaemia) where he began preparing and creating plans for new Locomobiles and reliefs. As his health improved, he committed himself to his artwork and during the same year met a Parisian gallery owner who decided to organize a solo show for him, Le Galerie Beatrice Soulie in Saint Germain des Pres. He has shown his work since 1996 in Paris and since 2000 in the United States (New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle). He is currently being shown by galleries in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg , Denmark, and the United States. He keeps on trying out new materials (fabric, leather, glass, plants, metals,…) that he integrates into his bas-reliefs: traction engines...

Sleeping Frog Bronze Sculpture Animal Green Patina Outside Realism In Stock
By Pieter Vanden Daele
Located in Utrecht, NL
Sleeping Frog Bronze Sculpture Animal Green Patina Outside Realism In Stock Pieter Vanden Daele was born in Belgium in 1971. He grew up between lakes and the river Scheldt. The river De Scheldt and the variety of lakes are an ideal environment for fishermen. When his friends went fishing, Pieter took painting lessons at the Oudenaarde academy. At a young age Pieter became fascinated by the underwater world and fauna. In 2000 he worked at an art foundation in Oudenaarde, where he learned how to make molds and how to cast and patronize bronze. His passions came together in 2003 and he started casting bronze sculptures of mainly carp. The fish that he makes have a special texture, a skin with scales translated into bronze. VandenDaele has developed its own technology for this. Pieter builds the original model from organic material, such as leaves, wood, leather, wax and many other materials. He uses various organic materials in his molds to create special prints and structures in the skin of the bronze. This gives the sculptures so much character that names such as Ferox, Alphons and Ludwig do not surprise us. The fish are alive, caught for eternity. Just as nature keeps prehistoric fish...
