There is no information regarding Donnini's pictorial training, whose documented activity, exercised in his Florentine studio in via del Maglio, began in 1843, the year in which he participated in the exhibition of the Florentine Promoter Society with View of a river with a bridge. Regular frequenter of the Caffè Michelangiolo, the meeting place of Macchiaioli painters, he regularly participates in the exhibitions organized by the Florentine Promoter Society of Fine Arts, starting from 1845 with Country of invention and View of a mill near Pisa and in 1847 with a series of views of Versilia. In the same year, his friend Antonio Puccinelli portrayed him in the Portrait of the painter Emilio Donnini: with the Pisan, Donnini shares patriotic and irredentist ideals and in all likelihood participates in the uprisings of 1848. In this period he approaches the Markò family, with whom he frequently moves between the Island of Elba, the Lazio and Tuscan countryside to paint landscapes en plein air, in the Macchiaioli way. In 1848 he painted Glimpses of Vicopisano, in 1849 he participated in the Promoter with a View of the Valdarno near Docciola, in 1850 with Marciana, View in the outlines of Seravezza and Marciana Marina. In 1852 he painted a marina for the walls of the Caffè Michelangiolo, in 1853 he participated in the Promoter with the Porto Lungone beach, Civitavecchia beach and Tramonto di sole sul mare. Starting from 1854 he is part of the artists of the Scuola di Staggia with the Markò, Serafino De Tivoli, Carlo Ademollo, Alessandro La Volpe, Lorenzo Gelati and Saverio Altamura and, in the same year, he was awarded by the Promoter for the Marina di Livorno paintings at the Ponte alla Sassara, Marina near Marciana with sun effect and View of a lake with sunset. In 1855 he participated in the Promotrice with Marina with boats, A road of Mugello near Vicchio, The furnaces of Prince Corsini in the Valdarno and Lo stradone del Gombo, in 1856 with Campagne Senesi, in 1857 with Paese del Mugello with bather, in 1858 he was awarded the Silver medal with A morning on the sea, where he also exhibits Country near Pisa, The mountains of Marciana, Rio beach...

Biedermann was born in 1940 in Hannover - dece. 2008 in Leipzig Already as a high school student Wolfgang E. Biedermann's artistic talent was recognized by Ursula Mattheuer-Neustädt. She promoted him to evening studies at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) Leipzig. From 1961 Biedermann studied at the HGB in the specialist class for free graphics and painting with Gerhard Kurt Müller, completing his studies in 1967. Since 1968 Biedermann was active as a freelance artist in Leipzig. He undertook study trips to Poland, France and Indonesia, as well as to the USSR and the USA. From 1968 to 1991 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR and since 1996 a member of the Free Academy of Arts in Leipzig. The unique encounter with the German action artist Joseph Beuys had a great impact on Biedermann. The artistic work of Wolfgang E. Biedermann spanned from 1960 to 2008. His œuvre is characterized by the development of his own technique. In addition to drawings and sketches of the early work for study purposes he dealt over the years primarily with printing practices. He produced numerous abstract paintings and works on paper using color etching and silkscreen processes as well as multi-plate overprinting. Biedermann relied on different layering by means of various techniques of graphics and painting. He dealt extensively with overdrawing and overpainting his works. Repeating motifs are symbols, signs, ciphers and writings, which are based on Asian calligraphy. Biedermann dealt just as intensively with the content of philosophical writings by Peter Sloterdijk and with letters from the estate of Friedrich Schiller, which he transposed into the paintings. His color-intensive paintings reflect "inner landscapes". Klaus Werner coined this term as early as 1980 for the complete works of Wolfgang E. Biedermann. Since 1977 Wolfgang E. Biedermann presented his artworks at various exhibitions. On the occasion of his 50th birthday, the Lindenau Museum in Altenburg exhibited a comprehensive selection of 130 works in 1990. NordLB - Art, Hannover accompanied his further creative process for almost ten years with work locations in Berlin (Sony Center), Singapore, Zurich and Hamburg. At the EXPO 2000 in Hanover, twelve of his large-scale works were on display in the German pavilion. Parts of his œuvre have also been exhibited outside Germany in Tokyo, Paris, Damascus, Bilbao, Listovel, Mulhouse, Grenchen, Basel and Fredrikstad, among other places. A respected artist in his own day, he was particularly known as a history painter specialising in genre scenes and portraiture, his pictures often embodied fantasy and dreamlike qualities. He studied under Joseph Führich at the Viennese Academy before continuing his studies in Munich and then Paris, where he arrived in 1882. It was during his time in Paris that Wertheimer obtained widespread recognition and success after exhibiting his painting, Le repas des lions chez Pezon, at the Salon of 1886. He exhibited frequently at the Salon and participated in many of the great exhibitions of the period, receiving medals at Amsterdam, London, New Orleans and Paris.
