Portrait of a male character on a neutral and dark background with the gentleman in a three-quarter view, looking at the viewer with his head slightly tilted to one side and dressed in a coat with fur around the neck and lapels. The oval frame, made of carved wood, is decorated with plain bands and others with elements of classicist influence, and finished off with a delicate bow, following a very common fashion in the 19th century. Manuel Ussel or Wssel de Guimbarda was a Spanish painter whose work is preserved in numerous private collections and in leading institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Murcia, the Bellver collection in Seville and the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga.
