To tell if wood furniture is good quality, first give it a gentle push. Well-made pieces should remain stable without wobbling or creaking. Next, examine the joints of the furniture. Good-quality furnishings will typically feature screw, doweled, dovetail or mortise-and-tenon joints. Pieces held together by glue are often not as finely crafted. Next, consider the wood itself. Solid wood pieces and those made out of solid wood and then finished with genuine wood veneers tend to be higher quality than pieces constructed out of engineered wood. This Rosewood Leather Sling Lounge Chair by Tormod Alnæs was completely disassembled and each piece of rosewood re-glued and detailed. The frame is now rock solid and special care was given to each joint to ensure rigidity. The original canvas was inspected and brushed clean. Of course, all of this was in addition to the new butterscotch-cognac leather upholstery. Our team kept the original tufting pattern and replaced all the interior cushioning as well. The terracotta color of the leather contrasts beautifully with the rosewood frame. The soft, supple leather has a slightly pebbled, texture feel. The button tufting pattern punctuates a subtle tailored look in accordance to the overall atmosphere of this illusive and iconic chair.
