Frammento Casa di Famiglia
Title: Fragment
Artist: Marilina Marchica
Dimensions:
Artwork: 70x110 cm
Frame: 80x120 cm
Description:
This is an original, non-reproducible piece by Marilina Marchica. The essence of inhabiting is about the self within a space, as well as living in and shaping that space while being shaped by it. To inhabit means to give form to spaces, just as we take form from them.
These traces emerge both obviously and physically through decontextualized fragments that dramatically amplify their role, and in a more hidden dimension, aimed at evoking emotions related to a succession of events. In this exploration, which brings a metaphysics of presence, the figure loses its sovereignty in favor of continuous processuality where the fragment is the only possible form of writing.
Fracture represents a zone of instability and turbulence where one can experience fibrillation; likewise, collapse, ruin, and downfall become decisive elements that ensure a future for the fragment. As the Persian poet Rumi says, "If the form disappears, its root is eternal," suggesting that the goal of this research is not the form itself but the reflection it evokes or surrounds.
Marchica's investigation focuses on the value of the fragment, manifesting in cycles of works where the dialectic between form and matter is entrusted to residual and discarded building materials, tears, and stratifications. Starting from these traces, she rereads through drawing the remnants of a place now changed, the remains of an ephemeral geography.
The artwork features intricate, abstract patterns with a textural quality, rendered in a monochromatic palette. The fragmented forms seem to evoke a sense of historical layering and emotional depth, inviting viewers to contemplate the transient nature of spaces and the continuous process of creation and decay. The overall effect is a complex interplay of form and meaning, where each fragment holds a story within the broader narrative of the artwork.

Marilina Marchica
Marilina Marchica (Agrigento, 1984) lives and works in Agrigento. She trained at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where she graduated in Painting. He has participated in several exhibitions on national and international territory. In addition to the solo shows at the FAM Gallery in Agrigento, the A Sud Arte Contemporanea gallery in Realmonte, Spazio Hus Milano and the site-specific exhibition for the crypt of the Church of Santa Maria del Piliere in Palermo, we remember his participation in the FAM Prize of the Chiaramontane Factories of Agrigento and at the artist's residence in Villa Aurea - Valle dei Templi, curated by the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage of Agrigento. His works have been published in art magazines and volumes including "The New Collectors Book", edited by Basak Malone (New York, 2015). Her painting tells of the relationship between man, nature and time, the landscape, the sign and the trace, through the stripping, reduction and subtraction of figurative elements.
"my landscapes are" boxes "of memories,
day after day they welcome events and individuals who leave their marks and change their boundaries and appearance "
The aesthetics of the "Sign" in Marilina Marchica's pictorial production starts from a research on architecture
the wall as a diaphragm between inside and outside
this takes on a strong symbolic value for the artist, crystallizes collapses and demolitions, freeing them from oblivion and placing them in a universal dimension that alludes to life and its seasons.
This cyclical and dynamic trend, on the other hand, tends to expand in the "Landscapes" to take on an expanded dimension that aligns itself on the geographical horizons, evoked by a vision of reality bordering on abstraction.

Marilina Marchica's research delves into the relationship between Man and Nature and the emotional implications of the relationship between human and dwelling. In this research, the landscape is the protagonist. People today rule over 75% of the land not covered by ice, which has led to modifying and shaping places, ignoring the life-giving forces of nature. The attempts of modern people...
