Original Abstract Portrait in Mixed Media on Paper II (1987) Robert Azensky Fine Art Gallery is proud to present this gorgeous example of 1980s vintage Latin American School abstract expressionist art of a minimalist portrait by California-based Latin American artist, Ricardo de Silva (American/Brazil, 20th C). This face is punctuated with bold red paint strokes from the brow line down the nose. De Silva's use of long, quick strokes of line give the artwork wonderful movement. Signed and dated along the bottom edge: R. de Silva '87 Acquired with a collection of the artist's work. Presented in a new off-white mat. Mat size: 40"H x 32"W Paper size: 29.75"H x 25.25"W Image size: 28.25"H x 24.25"W From a collection of Ricardo de Silva's work and memorabilia. DeSilva was born in Brazil and grew up in Los Angeles. He was a gallery owner, first in Santa Barbara in the 1960's and 70's, then in San Jose in the 1980's. He was dedicated to promoting the work of talented upcoming artists, including Kogyo and Hasui Kiyochika, Robert Frame, Jim Stuckenberg, Alice Robertson Carr, Deborah Eve Alastra, Russell Kelly, and Diana Mark.

Subtly shaded abstract figurative illustration by Elsa Warnick (American, 1942-2013). Two adult and three baby figures are rendered with subtle tan shading, against an abstract background with geometric shapes and swirling ribbons. One of the two adult figures is laying down, while the other appears to be jumping or dancing. Notable is the skillful use of negative space to balance the composition.
