About the Item

Original photorealistic watercolor on archival paper by the American artist, Gregory Strachov. Signed lower right. Circa 1980. Condition is excellent. Beautifully matted and framed. Overall framed measurements are 27 by 22 inches. Under UV glass. Provenance: A Naples, Florida estate. Gregory Strachov: Born 1950 He was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1950 and emigrated to the United States with his family in 1955. The paintings of Gregory Strachov are in collections all over the world. His work has been honored in prominent museums in the United States as well as abroad. He has won a major award at the Chateau Museum of Art in Cagnes Sur Mer, France, when sixteen artists from the United States were selected to show Europe historic new art. His current paintings of stones and granite are well known, and his series on war, the Holocaust, human subjects and emotion have won respect world wide. He was honored with the Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Art by the Butler Institute of American Art. The same award was given to only a select number of artists. Some of these are: Jon Singer Sargent, Thomas Hoving, and Robert Rauschenberg.
