At the Shore
Located in Atlanta, GA
"My work principally consists of deeply abstracted figure compositions--intuitive constructions that begin with random marks establishing larger masses of torsos, heads, and limbs in an undefined setting. The emphasis is almost purely on intuition. The figures are born of their surrounding environment, emerging only partially and fugitively from the layers of pigment. A narrative is evident but never overt. A crown, a shield, a boat, a wheel. Though the subject has recently coalesced around my reading of Dante and Shakespeare, the settings remain extremely vague- a beach, an interior, a woodland. The paintings are, in the end, meditations on the relationship between the protagonists in a wordless drama. In my paintings, I use a cold wax medium combined with dry pigments, oil paint, and embedded fragments of burlap. The surfaces eventually build up into a dense, rugged terrain." --Thaddeus Radell

Sophie # 5, hand painted mixed media portrait photography on paper, framed
Located in Dallas, TX
This beutiful unique edition is framed on a custom black box frame, all archival materials. Rosie Emerson, born in 1981, is a contemporary artist working almost exclusively on representing the female form. Emerson’s figures draw reference from archetypes old and new, from Artemis to the modern day super model, each solitary figure, an allegory of her own fantasy. Interested in surface, the interplay between photography and painting. Emerson’s works are playful constructs; Photography is used, not as a device for capturing reality but for creating romanticised optical illusions. Inspired by her love of theatre, performance, shrines and rituals, she uses lighting, costume, set and prop making, alongside printmaking and painting to create other worldly one off pieces. Her photography is inspired by both the drama of the baroque, and ethereal qualities of Pre Raphaelite works. Other important influences include late medieval and renaissance paintings, Japanese prints, and magical realist literature. Emerson’s screen...

The Body is a History - Muscular Male Nude, Graphite Drawing on Paper
Located in Chicago, IL
Rick Sindt's knowledge of the male physique is evident in this exquisite drawing of a nude male. The subject sits on the ground with his body twisted away from the viewer. We see the defined musculature of his posterior. The artwork is framed in white wood with a black mat. Rick Sindt The Body is a History graphite on archival paper 12h x 9w in 30.48h x 22.86w cm RIS026 Shifting the historic male gaze into a male-on-male gaze, this body of work anchors its exploration of queer culture in relationships and introspection. Beginning with a survey of several photo archives, I overwhelmingly encountered pictures that fit into two distinct categories: spectacular demonstrations or public displays of sexuality. All of these images were overtly political. Then, I began to find a subset of more intimate images. Typically, these were images submitted by loved ones or donated to foundations after someone’s death. These images depicted common, tender scenes. Working my way through these images, I reflected on D. A. Miller’s assertion that gay identity, to which we have entrusted our politics and ethics, stands in an essentially reductive relation to the queer desires on which it is based. And David Halperin’s argument that, “identity has become the preferred category for thinking about homosexuality. Moreover, it has been promoted at the direct expense of pleasure or feelings or subjectivity.” This left me asking the questions: how is queer culture transmitted if not genealogically? Is there a universal queer experience? What is queer sensibility and subjectivity and can it be visually represented? 'Garden Entrance' - Architectural Watercolor Painting
Located in Atlanta, GA
"Garden Entrance" is a watercolor painting featuring subtle hues of green, blue and yellow. This work is framed measuring 15.5 by 14 inches. McLean Jenkins is inspired by the work of JMW Turner, Richard Diebenkorn and Louis Khan. McLean Jenkins is a practicing architect and his work derives from and celebrates the classical forms of his trade. Working in graphite, ink and watercolor, McLean employs a gestural approach that frees his hand to explore a subject’s essence. His compositions rely on the quick, decisive sketch and are then given over to the whims and splashes of watercolor. Spontaneity, movement and spirit are all emphasized and his drawings collectively form their own narrative of his passion for architecture. The city of Venice has captured McLean’s imagination since his first trip there as a 12 year old boy. Over the years a kind of courtship with the city has evolved, and its impact has motivated and sustained his development as both architect and artist. His work depicting the city has been recognized within the architectural profession by the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation in its award to McLean of the J. Neel Reid...

"Santa Maria della Salute I" is a watercolor painting of the Santa Maria della Salute church and minor basilica in Venice, Italy. This work features hues of blue, orange, green and yellow. This piece is 14.5 by 17.75 inches framed. McLean Jenkins is inspired by the work of JMW Turner, Richard Diebenkorn and Louis Khan.
