About the Item

Title: French Impressionist Watercolor of Parisian Street Scene with Sacré-Cœur Basilic By Maurice Mazeilie (French 1924-2021) Medium: Watercolor on paper, unframed Size: 4.75 x 7 inches (Height x Width) Signed: Yes Condition: Good, with signs of aging. Provenance: All the paintings we have by this artist have come from the artist's estate. Description: This evocative watercolor captures a picturesque street in Paris, with the iconic domes of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica rising majestically in the background. The artist brings to life the charming urban atmosphere of the Montmartre district, with its narrow streets and classical architecture. Warm tones of the surrounding buildings contrast beautifully with the soft whites of the basilica and the sky, while lush trees add a sense of tranquility to the urban scene. The figures strolling along the street add depth and movement, evoking the timeless charm of Parisian life. The artist's loose brushwork and impressionistic style further enhance the sense of vibrancy and fluidity, making this piece a perfect addition for collectors of European cityscapes, particularly those with a love for Paris.

Rue St Rustique, Montmartre and Sacré-Coeur Basilica, Paris. Watercolor and Ink.
Located in Cotignac, FR
Mid 20th Century drawing and watercolour of Rue St Rustique in Paris. The drawing is titled and signed bottom left but the signature is as yet undeciphered. Unframed but with a cut card mount. A charming view of one of the oldest streets in Montmartre and Paris leading up to the iconic Sacré-Coeur Basilica. The artist has captured all the charm of this treasured view. They have shown a mastery of their art and wonderful handling of the drawing and watercolour. A lovely evocative painting that would grace any collection or interior. This street in the old village of Montmartre, which existed before the eleventh century as a path, later became an alley that served as a boundary between the seigneuries of Saint-Denis and Montmartre. Called "rue Notre-Dame" around 1516, it is indicated on the map of Jouvin de Rochefort of 1672 as a road. It was classified as part of the Parisian road network by a decree of 23 May...

Parisian Street Scene
By Roland Dubuc
Located in London, GB
'Parisian Street Scene', watercolour on art paper, by Roland DuBuc (circa 1970s). This artwork is a delightful depiction of a Parisian street which scales the hill to the neighbourhood of Montmartre, the home of the basilica of Sacré-Cœur. DuBuc's artworks serve as a love letter to the city of Paris and are recognised by his incredibly charming style. The signed artwork is in good overall condition and has been newly framed with anti-reflective glass. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video of the piece may be provided. About the Artist: Roland DuBuc (1924-1998), French artist, the sixth of 13 children and son of a construction worker. The very precariousness of the family's financial situation forced him to go to work at the age of 14. In extreme poverty, he moved to Rouen where he was lodged by the Salvation Army. During that time he struck up friendships with several artists who gave him advice and taught him techniques of drawing. He moved to other cities later where he met painters including, among others, Fred Pailhès...
