The project is based in the contrast of the two images, the air waybill and the postage stamp, from different times but similar in their function. The artist seeks to enlighten the change in the use of the image, to reflect on how some languages disappear due to the globalization and new ones emerge with unified visual parameters. Formerly the stamps told stories from a country, a place through their image, nowadays the air waybill is a contract with terms and conditions.
_________
The artist finds in drawing a way to explore the relevance of detail in the construction of images, objects, and spaces. The repetition of tiny elements such as the line in a drawing leads to the construction of complex universes where that detail acquires value and becomes the basic unit, like the brick in a wall.
The gesture of the repetition of small elements and the time invested in doing it is used as a tool to give "value" to the images that are constructed.

______________
Maria Jose Franco Maldonado’s family was her art school by the hand of Georgia O`Keefe, Elaine de Kooning, Lee Krasner, Artemisia Gentileschi, Matisse, Leonor Fini, Leonora Carrington, Louise Bourgeois, Maripaz Jaramillo, Judy Chicago, Basquiat, and so many others. She then formalized her studies in art direction and advertising in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2015, she showed her work for the very first time in three group exhibitions around New York at Shervin's Café Gallery, Brooklyn Fire Proof Gallery, and Greenpoint Gallery. That same year her illustrations accompanied Pilar Gualco`s literary work in Buenos Aires at Fauna Estudio Taller.
In 2017, she fell in love with embroidery. Slowly, she connected techniques and in the process dressed up a lot of weird humans. She showed her work in 2019 at Noches San Felipe and Open San Felipe with SGR and Bandy Bandy galleries in Bogotá, Colombia. Closing 2019 she was lucky to have her own exhibition alongside Daniela Moreno, a great Colombian textile...

About the artist
Renelio’s work is split into two directions, one where lines and drawing is the primordial element. The other in which painting and color are used as conveyors of emotion and expression.
The first direction of work is linked to the surrealist method of automatic drawing. Back in the early 1990’s in Havana, while Renelio was still a student at the Academy of Fine Arts, the work of psychologist Carl Jung...
