Daniel Cherbuin (b. 1971) lives and works in Zürich, Switzerland. At the beginning of commercial television he was the creative force behind Sputnik-TV, an innovative and experimental channel emerging from Zürich’s underground techno scene. Cherbuin’s works are today characterized by highly innovative montages, idiosyncratic alliances of images, as well as an anarchic tenor: with irony, and pastiche Cherbuin is mocking the blasé in pop culture.
The titles of the works Being and Nothingness and L’Être et le néant refer to French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre’s key philosophical work Being and Nothingness (1943). Cherbuin’s works feature a beautiful woman slowly blinking while looking at the viewer, which becomes a symbol for solipsism, a theory discussed by Sartre in Being and Nothingness. This theory suggests that only what can be seen exists, and argues that the world would disappear if we wouldn’t see it. The open eyes of the woman, therefore, symbolize being, while her closed eyes represent nothingness.

Mark Acetelli was born in Detroit into an artistic household. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist.
Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed.
Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Acetelli’s works can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world, including Bill Withers, Lisa Colburn, Colburn School of Music, Raytheon Corp, Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, Michael Jordan, Stuart Beattie, Claire Forlani, Camryn Manheim, and Francine Maisler.

Mark A. Lembo Script M Abstract Art Mark’s dynamic work blurs the distinction between alcohol ink and watercolor - working with dyes, inks, liquid acrylic, liquid watercolor, and other aqueous media; lately, he has been incorporating metallic watercolor and pearlescent ink to his work. He has used canvas, synthetic Yupo™ paper, Yasutomo Mineral Paper, and various watercolor papers. Mark’s journey into the world of creative arts started with the question, “What would Jackson Pollock’s work look like if he had used transparent watercolors?” So, it was out with the pencils, pens, and brushes, and on to the pouring of various aqueous solutions. Anne Francey has been working with subject matter inspired by nature for most of her artistic career. Since the pandemic, this focus has become ever more apparent as her new acrylic paintings on paper demonstrate her intuitive process of reinterpreting literal subjects like leaves, flowers, birds, or bugs into vibrant worlds of layered color. She begins by drawing from life but then allows fluctuating colors, traces of the hand, and evidence of the physical medium to be introduced as the composition evolves and finds its final imprint on the surface. The spontaneity of her process welcomes the unknown, she explains: “The things that moved me first…might have become by now just a faint whispering. But I know that a story is being told, even if I don’t understand yet all the words.”
About the artist:
Anne Francey was born in 1956 in Grandson, Switzerland. She attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne (ECBA) from 1976 to 1981, where she received a diploma of Fine Arts in painting. In 1981, she moved to New York where she attended the School of Visual Arts and the graduate program of Fine Arts at Hunter College. She graduated in 1987 with a Master of Fine Arts (MFA).

Having been nurtured by a Yoruba father who happens to be a twin was a major inspiration for creating this painting. In Yoruba culture, twins are considered a special blessing from God. They are mostly called ‘ibeji’ which means twins. In Yoruba society, twins are given special names, such as Taiwo (meaning “first to taste the world“) and Kehinde (meaning “second to taste the world”).
