About the Item
This painting is a simple map of growing up physically and inside. At the center is a thoughtful face, its dark skin glowing in the light. Around the face, golden flowers bloom against a black-and-white leaf pattern. Each flower stands for a moment in my life: birth, challenge, hope, and strength. On one petal, I wrote “Never relent” to remind myself to keep going. On another, I wrote “Don’t let anything stop you,” a quiet warning against giving up. On the right, you see a green chrysalis. It shows the hard work that happens in private. Below it, a butterfly has just come out of its wings, matching the color of the flowers. This butterfly is me, at the end of a long change.
Every stage of the butterfly’s life points to a part of my own story: the slow first steps, the quiet time of growth, and finally the freedom to fly. “Emerging Wings” tells us that every step matters. We grow, in body and spirit, only when we honor each part of our transformation.

About Artist
Bakare Babatunde, born in Ogun State, Nigeria, is a dynamic artist whose journey in art has been shaped by a rich cultural background. Completing his higher education in Lagos State, Nigeria, Bakare earned a Higher National Diploma in Library and Information Science, laying the foundation for a unique artistic perspective.
Bakare's artistic evolution began with pencil drawing, a modest start that eventually led him to experiment with various media. Oil colour, acrylic, and Ankara fabrics on canvas emerged as his favoured mediums, allowing him to explore the depth of his creative vision. Primarily focusing on figurative painting and portraiture, Bakare's work delves into the intricacies of human expression and identity. His art becomes a canvas for the narratives of emotions and cultural appreciation.
