Moment of Reflections 1
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
In "Moment of Reflections," Olatunbosun transports the audience into a world of contemplation and self-discovery. The centerpiece of the artwork is a young man seated in a casual, relaxed manner. His pose conveys a sense of tranquility as if he has found solace in the moments of quiet contemplation. The attention to detail in the artwork is striking, with intricate brushwork bringing out the textures of the subject's clothing and the surrounding environment. The setting of the artwork is deliberately minimalistic, allowing the viewer to focus entirely on the young man's expression and demeanor. The background is a subtle blend of soft colors, suggesting an ethereal space where thoughts roam freely. This simplicity further accentuates the theme of reflection, as the absence of distractions allows viewers to immerse themselves in their own thoughts while contemplating the emotions conveyed by the subject. Olatunbosun's "Moment of Reflections" is a remarkable piece that resonates deeply with viewers from all walks of life. The young man's expression exudes a sense of inner peace, prompting viewers to ponder their own life experiences and contemplate the paths they have taken. This introspective quality of the artwork creates an intimate connection between the audience and the subject, allowing for a deeply personal and emotional experience. The painting's title, "Moment of Reflections," is deliberately chosen to reinforce the idea of taking a moment for self-exploration and soul-searching. In the hustle and bustle of modern life, we often overlook the importance of pausing and reflecting on our journey. Olatunbosun's artwork serves as a gentle reminder to find time for introspection and to appreciate the beauty in moments of quietude. What makes "Moment of Reflections" even more extraordinary is its ability to transcend cultural boundaries. The emotions depicted in the artwork are universal, touching the core of human experiences. Whether the viewer is from the artist's homeland or halfway across the world, the profound message remains relevant – we all share moments of contemplation and self-discovery in our lives. In conclusion, Samson Olatunbosun's "Moment of Reflections" is a timeless masterpiece that captures the human spirit with its simplicity and emotional depth. Symbol of Memories
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Symbol of Memories 1 is an original painting by Oladimeji Alabi. Oladimeji created the Symbol of Memories with Mixed Media on a 30W by 50H inches primed canvas. The symbol of Memories is inspired by the story of my childhood. The objects and signs we grew up with as a child in our homes become symbols of our memories today. Art has the ability to evoke strong emotions and convey meaningful messages. One such artwork that does just that is "Symbol of Memories," a stunning piece that uses the mother as a symbol of life and hope. This artwork is made even more significant by the use of damask fabric, which was popular among Nigerian women in the late 70s to 90s and used for making gele, the head ties worn by women. The artwork speaks volumes about the importance of mothers in society. The mother is dressed in a vibrant damask fabric, which adds a sense of richness and texture to the painting. The use of damask fabric in the painting is significant as it represents a part of Nigerian culture and history. Damask was a popular fashion among Nigerian women in the late 70s to 90s and was used to make gele, the head ties worn by women on special occasions. The fabric is often associated with elegance, sophistication, and beauty, which adds a layer of meaning to the artwork. The mother in the painting is the focal point of the artwork, symbolizing the importance of mothers in society. Mothers are the backbone of families, providing love, support, and guidance to their children. They are often the ones who hold families together through difficult times, serving as a symbol of hope and resilience. The use of the damask fabric in the painting also represents the concept of memories. The fabric has a rich history in Nigerian culture, and for many people, it is a symbol of their childhood and the memories they hold dear. The painting serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving memories, both good and bad, and how they shape our lives. Overall, "Symbol of Memories" is a beautiful piece of art that celebrates the role of mothers in society. The use of damask fabric adds a layer of meaning to the painting, representing the importance of preserving memories and the rich culture of Nigeria. The mother as a focused subject symbolizes life and hope, the fabric applied in this art is called damask, which was a popular fashion among Nigerian women around the late 70s to 90s used for making gele(the head ties). Modernist Israeli Judaica Mixed Media Painting Rabbis Walking In Jerusalem
Located in Surfside, FL
Moshe Katz (Romanian Israeli), 1937- an Israeli citizen, studied art at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem, as well as at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Although not an exponent of one dominating technique of painting, Moshe has been fascinated in recent months with the textures and expressions he is able to obtain with the pallette knife. Picasso, Cezanne and Gaugin are his idols, and the power of Mexican art has a deep fascination for him. With elements of Folk Art combined with a sophisticated technique. He enjoys working in clay but finds painting in oil his greatest outlet for the stories he has to tell through his pictures. In addition to an outstanding collection of books featuring the works of the great masters, his shelves are lined with texts about hypnosis. Studying about the art of hypnotizing provides him with a mental exercise far removed from his highly developed art of expressing himself on canvas. He has exhibited with the Painters and Sculptors Association in Israel, Haifa and the North along with artists: Yaacov Agam, Sela (Blaustein), Emanuel Pinhassi, Pasternak, Anna, Chaltiel, Joseph Schwartz, Nira Shemer, Aviva, Fadel, Mohamed Bishara, Sana, Menashe Kadishman, Menashe Shalhevet, Yitzchak Frumin, Moshe Rosen, Maureen Moshe was born March 2, 1937 in Bucherest, Romania with his parents, he fled from the Nazis and after stops in many countries, reached Israel. The connection between love and embroidery is nowhere stronger than among the minority peoples of China. Hand-stitched by a mother herself or gifted by the women in her family, the baby carrier not only kept the baby close, it acted as a visual reminder of a family's love and devotion. The central panel of a baby carrier, this textile would have been sewn to several long fabric straps used tie the carrier to a woman's back. The panel is comprised of a dark indigo cotton appliquéd with triangular panels, each embroidered with peony blossoms and butterflies, symbols of life and happiness. "Three Kesi Official's Badges, " Silk Textile, 1850
Located in Chicago, IL
These exquisite, hand-woven tapestries are actually Qing-dynasty civil official badges. Such badges were affixed to the front and back of a dark silk overcoat to convey the official's prestige and rank. Facing the sun and resting amidst crashing waves, a central figure of a regal bird designates the official's rank. The outermost badges in this set of three depict Silver Pheasants, emblems of fifth rank, and the middle badge depicts a Wild Goose, the emblem of fourth rank. Scrolls, censors, coins, and other auspicious charms float throughout billowing clouds and waves surrounding the bird. Though many Qing-dynasty badges were embroidered, this set is an example of a pain-staking weaving technique known as kesi, or k'o-ssu, valued for creating an overall effect of carved silk. Set against fine silk brocades and centered in a simple frame, this set is a stunning example of Chinese textile art...
