About the Item
Cropped and deconstructed images of a brick wall with a painted advertisement for a vintage cafe, four sets of mannequin legs, and cement barrier of hexagonal forms are represented on 14 x 11 inch Yupo translucent paper in Patty deGrandpre’s contemporary mixed media unique print titled “Standing in Line (red knees)”. This one of kind piece combines visual elements and vintage typography that at first glance have no relationship to each other but deGrandpre thoughtfully combines layers of block printing ink and digital inkjet in hues of red, green, blue, and creamy white to create this graphic colorful composition that interlace the concept of fundamental form and color with pictorial imagery. Embracing both experimental printmaking, mixed media and photography, deGrandpre’s creative method yields an unexpected dynamic blend of familiar with abstract. deGrandpre’s artworks evolve from the vast catalog of photographs of common objects and scenes from her everyday life and experiences. The imagery serves not only as visual content for her artwork but also as a tool to document and recall moments in her life much like pages from a photo album. Signed and dated under the right corner of the image, the artwork will ship flat in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice.
DeGrandpre received her BFA in Visual Design from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 1987. She has exhibited throughout the United States including three solo exhibitions. deGrandpre’s work has been featured in various periodicals as well as being the recipient of various awards in both Fine Art and Printmaking. She is represented by Fountain Street Gallery, Boston Massachusetts.

Patty deGrandpre
Patty deGrandpre is a New Mexico based artist. She received her BFA in Visual Design at Southeastern Massachusetts University in 1987. Her studio is in her home in Lamy, New Mexico. She has participated in many shows, both juried and invitational, at local, regional and national levels. In addition to three solo exhibitions, she has received accolades and awards over the years in both Fine Art and Printmaking.
